The School is primarily under the Management of the “Gokak Falls Educational and Medical Trust”. Executive Director & CEO, Gokak textiles  is the Ex-Officio Chairman of this Trust. Although intended for the children of Gokak Mills employees, it is open to children from places in and around Gokak Falls. The School has succeeded in establishing a healthy tradition and fine spirit of comradeship in-keeping with the objectives of the school.

The Forbes Academy is an independent, Co-Educational, Day School. It was started in 1979 in the name of Gokak Mills English Medium School by the ‘Gokak Falls Educational and Medical Trust’ to cater to the needs of the children of The Gokak Mills’ employees.

The name was changed to The Forbes Academy in 1984 and the school buildings were expanded. From its humble beginnings the school has grown into a reputed school ever since.
